ConBust is a sci-fi/fantasy/anime/gaming convention put on each spring by students at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. This three-day event provides fans of various geekdoms the opportunity to gather and enjoy their interests as a whole. Panels and workshops, as well as movie and anime showings, can be found in great abundance throughout the weekend. And of course, we have a fabulous array of guests who will be showing. What sets ConBust apart from most other sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and/or gaming conventions is its focus on women members of the participating community. While the various realms of geekdom remain stereotypically male-dominated, ConBust is held to celebrate the work of women amongst these genres. |
And I am back from Conbust 2013! The con was really great, I met a lot of cool people (wish I had taken more pictures of cosplayers, but it’s difficult while trying to run an artist alley table), and I still ache everywhere from the dance last night. No regrets.

Well, I just got home not too long ago from an amazing weekend attending ConBust at Smith College in Northampton, MA. I got to see my Doctor—who I haven’t seen in far too long—and cosplay as River again! I wore a casual version of Nightmare Moon on Saturday, and even though it wasn’t the full version it was still lots of fun.
We ended up at Lime Red after the convention, and when I got home my new shoes for River were waiting for me! They are a delicious pair of pumps because I can’t be River if I’m not hell in high hells ;)
Preparations for Fanime are still going. I may take a break tonight because I’m so tired, but I may end up lace fronting one of my wigs just because Fanime is so close. Next weekend is my birthday, so I’ll be celebrating with my friends by getting a new tattoo! We’ll be going in cosplay, so I may end up doing casual Lee since my friend offered to do Gaara!
Anyways, I’ve got a fairly decent picture I just edited of me and my Doctor that I’ll post shortly. I hope everyone had a great weekend!
