On the horizon…
ConBust 2014 is over, but we’ve already started planning for next year! Who would you like to see as guests for ConBust 2015? What new panels and workshops would you like to attend, and which ones from this year and years past do you want to see again? Any other suggestions you might have are also welcome! Just drop them in our ask. We’ll consider all suggestions when we re-convene for con staff meetings in the fall.
nonnymuss asked: 2014 was my second Conbust, and I love how small--in an *intimate* way--it is. I brought a friend, and it was her first con, and she had a great time. But it would be really helpful if you could put all the events in one section, rather than breaking some items out into workshops and most into regular programming. Thanks!
We’ll keep your suggestion in mind.
To the anon who sent a message asking for more panels being moderated: Would you mind letting us know who the panelist was who caused the problems you mentioned? We want to make sure that the con is an enjoyable place for everyone, so panelists who turn ConBust into an uncomfortable or unsafe environment are something we don’t want, and something we need to know about in order to deal with properly.
We’re very sorry you had such an experience, and we’ll work hard to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
farewellfragiledreams asked: Being it was my first con I really enjoyed it! I felt like I was friends with every one, I really felt at home
I’m so glad you enjoyed the con! We try really hard to make it a friendly environment, and it’s awesome to know when we succeed.
So, the con is over, and we’d love to hear from you! What did you like? What do you want to see improved or added? What was your favourite panel? Did you see any mind-blowing cosplays? (I know I did!)
Send us an ask about your thoughts on the con!
How is everyone enjoying the second day of ConBust?
Anonymous asked: Is the Nightvale RPG a regular RPG or a LARP?
The Night Vale RPG is a tabletop.
thori-belore asked: What's the con policy regarding wooden weapons? My costume would involve a wooden sword... is there anything in particular I should do with it? (If, indeed, I can wear it) Or are wooden ones all right?
The official ConBust weapons policy:
- No actual weapons. Swords and guns will be taken on sight.
- All swords with scabbards will be peace tied.
- No projectile weapons are allowed (this includes marshmallow crossbows, loaded Nerf guns, squirt guns, etc). If you use them inside, the Constaff reserves the right to confiscate them immediately.
If your wooden sword doesn’t have a scabbard or any sort of padding (like a boffing weapon) I’d advise you to leave it at home.
Hello, everyone! Hope you’ve all been having fun at ConBust!
I just received an ask. I wouldn’t normally make a separate post about it, but the thing is, this is the first time I’ve seen any little notification on the inbox icon that i’ve gotten any messages here. It is apparently not, however, the first time I’ve gotten a message.
This blog isn’t attached to my personal blog, so I have to sign in and out to get to it, which I usually do about once or twice a week around con season (and very rarely when it isn’t con season). Apparently that’s not often enough, as the little red message notification bubble expires more quickly than that.
So there are quite a few un-answered asks currently in my inbox, which I had no clue existed.
This was a huge oversight on my part; I had no idea message notifications expired if left unchecked. I’ll try to answer any still-relevant asks as soon as possible. In the future I’ll be checking the inbox every time I sign in, whether there’s a “new message” bubble or not.
I’m very sorry for neglecting your asks!
The con is tomorrow!
Don’t forget, we track the #conbust tag, so if you want us to see how much fun you’re having, tag it!
